Government’s International Cooperation Scheme Expands Global Opportunities for Indian MSMEs

The Ministry of MSME has outlined key features of its International Cooperation Scheme, offering up to 95% financial assistance for delegations, global exhibitions and international conferences to help Indian MSMEs access new markets, adopt advanced technologies and build global partnerships.

In a significant push to strengthen India’s micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) sector on the global stage, the Ministry of MSME has detailed the scope and support available under its International Cooperation (IC) Scheme. Designed to enhance international engagement and encourage technological advancement, the initiative aims to help Indian enterprises access new markets, forge global partnerships and participate more actively in cross-border trade events.

The scheme facilitates the deputation of MSME business delegations to various countries, enabling entrepreneurs to explore advanced technologies, identify potential collaborators and assess new market avenues. It further supports the participation of Indian MSMEs in international exhibitions, trade fairs and buyer–seller meets, both abroad and in India when such events include global representation. The IC Scheme also extends assistance for organizing international conferences and seminars focused on themes critical to the growth and development of MSMEs.

Financial support under the programme is substantial, with eligible enterprises able to receive up to 95 percent of airfare and space rental costs. The assistance varies depending on the enterprise’s size and category and also covers common delegation expenses, including freight and insurance, local transport, secretarial and communication services, and the printing of shared promotional materials.

Applications for the scheme are open to State and Central government bodies, industry associations, and registered societies or trusts involved in MSME promotion. Interested organisations may apply online or submit applications in the prescribed format to the Director (International Cooperation), Ministry of MSME, at Udyog Bhavan in New Delhi.
